About Polaris Tours
Polaris Tours opened on January 01, 2009
The name of the company was changed to Polaris Tours to signal a new beginning and it gave us a chance to give the company a catchy name. Polaris was chosen as the new name since it's a "guiding star" and the "brightest star" in its constellation. Polaris or the North Star is a travelers friend because it is used as a navigational star, since it can always be found to the north. And when you get lost you can always find your way again by looking for Polaris.
In 2009 & 2010 we were located in Concord, California.
On 28 January 2011, Polaris Tours moved to Union City, California.
On 28 December 2014, Polaris Tours moved a few miles to a new location in Union City, California.
On 29 April 2021, Polaris Tours moved to Japan.
On 27 November 2025, establish corporation Polaris Co., Ltd in Japan.
My name is Lance Kenji Imamura and I am the President of Polaris Tours. I began my career in the travel industry in 1998, one year after graduating high school and while I was attending City College of San Francisco & San Francisco State University. I graduated SFSU in 2003 with an BA degree in Ethnic Studies specializing in Asian American Studies and I also obtained a certificate in travel & tourism. During which time I was working part time and doing hands on learning of the industry at Kosakura Tours & Travel from Morris, Jane, Kathryn, Ruth, Rich and my father Ken. After graduating I began working at Kosakura Tours & Travel full time for the next 10 years before taking over the company at the start of 2009 and creating Polaris Tours.
